Beijing Normal University, School of Social Development and Public Policy - New PhD Graduate, Mr. Ma Leijun,Received his PhD in May 2011 in "Engendering Disaster Management in China".  He has been working for UN Women for over 6 years on managing gender equality grants at UN China under the China Gender Facility given to local or provincial Chinese NGOs, universities, and governments in order to improve the awareness, consciousness, and practices of Gender Equality with regard to Disaster Preparation, Livelihood Development, Education and Training, and Family Safety, Security and Prosperity.

First of it's Kind! Hope to have many more. 6 hour (1 day) Participatory Training  on Feb 18th, 2012 in Beijing (at Beijing Normal University School of Geography, sponsored by Dept of Geography Education with support from students and staff from the School of Social Development and Public Policy) - Gender Mainstreaming for DRR Education for Geography Teachers.  Lead trainer is Ms. Feng Yuan formerly of Action Aid. Materials inspired from many sources, including Irene Dankelman's work on Gender and Climate Change and INEE's Gender Task Group materials. Will post materials on it's new website soon.

We are happy to report that the 12 ppts (6 English, 6 Chinese) and two keynote speeches from the April 222011 UN China & All China Women’s Federation joint Earth Day event “Forum on Climate Change, Disaster Risk and Women: Why Gender Equality Matters” are now available in English and Chinese for download (since May 2011).  These materials can be inspiring to university, high school, middle school and primary education.
