The One Million Safe Schools and Hospitals Initiative encourages an individual, a family, a community, an organization, a government, a business or any other entity to make a pledge for a school or hospital and make them safer now to survive disasters. Schools refer to all educational institutions and hospitals refer to all health facilities.

A pledge is an expression of commitment to take action towards making a selected school or hospital safer. There are three types of pledges:

  1. Pledge as an advocate to make people aware about safe schools and hospitals,
  2. Pledge as a leader in emergency and disaster preparedness, and
  3. Pledge as a champion for risk reduction.

The three types of pledges address three components in the promotion of safe schools and hospitals: AWARENESS, PREPAREDNESS and RISK REDUCTION. To guide the pledgers on how to pursue the pledged actions, a list of reference materials that are available in the websites of the campaign partners and supporters is prepared.

Make a pledge mow for a safe school in the initiave website http://www.safe-schools-hospitals.net/en/Home.aspx
