Hello Again Kani - It looks like I will now be coming to Jakarta in early May 10-12 and hope to meet wiht some DRR contacts then. I hope to be meeting with people from ASEAN, BNPB, and AIFDR. Perhaps you and I could make contact to talk about your programmes at that time as well?
Let me know if that would be possible.
Regards
Paul

Hello Dani,
Paul here from New Zealand. My company has been involved in supporting DRR education in New Zealand ( and other countries) for the past few years- we developed a major school teaching and learning resource for our Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management called' What's the Plan Stan' (See our website educating.co.nz). I am part of a natural hazards group here that has been supporting DRR in indonesia (mostly in the engineering field). We recently had a visit from some people from Gadjah Mada University and they were interested in our work in DRR education. I may be in your country in late March and would be interested to meet with educators and government policy makers working in the DRR area. Could you suggest any contacts that I might be able to connect with if I come to your country?
Regards

Sae,
I am writing a paper on the mechanism of training teachers /educators for disaster preparation and am arguing that there is not really a mechanism as such but that a mixture of good resources, innovative tools and teaching techniques and the engagement of teachers with the topic is the most important facet to effective teacher training that will make a positive impact on disaster prevention education. What do your experiences tell you? I would like to hear from another perspective and if you can point me to any literature I would be grateful! Thanks!

we're exploring these tools. This site will be focussed on teachers network and sharing teaching experiences and tools. The soon to be launched COGSS-DPE site will cover all of COGSS-DPE working groups - but imagine there will be fair amount of crossover. In addition to www.preventionweb.net "educational materials" please also see www.drrlibrary.org Together those will be central places for collecting/sharing tools.
