Hi Justin,
Thanks for your comments and your interest on the teacher training programmes we are doing in Kashmir. These trainings have a focus on orienting teachers about the disasters particularly the natural disasters and their relationaship to the fragile ecosystems of the area. We also discuss th importance of preparedness and the ways to be prepared. Participatory, interactive and joyful learning methodologies are shared. These trainings are significant because of the remoteness of the area where teachers rarely get such opportunities and exposure. The are is ecologically fragile and prone to disasters. An interesting picture. What exactly were the teachers learning? Being a teacher myself, I am always interested to learn! It would be good if you could share what went on in a little more detail and perhaps even share some resources. It is REALLY important that environmental mitigation is taking place alongside First Aid and Response. If people know that they can make a difference themselves by changing habits in daily lives then this sort of education has the power to be VERY effective indeed!

Working together to help you be prepared and resilient to disasters via learning and education anywhere. Learning matters in DRR education.
